07 Oct Meet the team….Abbie
Hi everyone! I’m Abbie, I am 22 years old and I am from a small village called Whitworth; near Rochdale! I have just finished Leeds Beckett University, graduating with a first class honours degree in Sports and Exercise Therapy.
Whilst completing my degree I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to volunteer at a range of different places to gain experience; which I am very grateful for. I have worked at running events such as the Leeds 10k, worked in sports massage and injury clinics, with Catalan Dragons Rugby League team, Leeds Rhinos, Bradford City FC and Rochdale AFC. My interests within the profession include sports massage, biomechanics and exercise based rehabilitation. My final year dissertation looked into the effects motor control training has on lower back pain in gymnasts. Are you a gymnast with lower back pain? If so, get in touch and see how I can help you!
I have been a dancer since the age of 5; covering all kinds of styles. I competed in freestyle dance for around 8 years and reached a championship level before retiring and becoming a professional dance teacher… which I still do today. Besides dancing I enjoy going to the gym, going for long walks, reading and learning.
Whilst I am diverse in the range of patients I see, I aim to incorporate my knowledge and experience in dance into my profession; incorporating strength and conditioning for dance into injury assessment and treatment. In the near future, I hope to complete my Personal Training qualification, so keep an eye out for that!
I’m excited to start my new journey with Scholars Therapies , which is such a great team and look forward to meeting you all and help Gareth and Andy drive the business forwards.
See you soon !
Abbie
