30 Aug August Update
As August draws to a close with what is hoping to be a glorious Bank Holiday Weekend we thought we would take a look back on August, the month that has seen us finally reopen after four and a half months of being closed for face to face appointments. August has also seen Gareth return to full-time professional football as Head of Medical at AFC Fylde (more about this later!)
We wanted to start by saying a HUGE thank you to all of our patients and clients who have stuck with us through these tough times. It’s been so nice to see you all back in clinic. We also wanted to thank you for your patience and working with us with all of our new Covid-19 measures we have had to put in place. With the reduced opening hours and our Covid-19 measures meaning we are able to see less patients, we are delighted that we have managed to see 147 of you throughout August. We are now in full flow and very much immersed in our ‘new normal’.
August has also seen Gareth return to full-time professional football as Head of Medical at AFC Fylde. Gareth had always said he would only return to football for a special project with an opportunity to lead his own medical department. This happened almost completely out of the blue following a discussion with his former Morecambe Manager Jim Bentley, was keen to have Gareth join his backroom staff at Mill Farm Stadium. Gareth had this to say:
“After speaking to the gaffer (Jim) having a look around and speaking to the CEO at AFC Fylde this opportunity was too good to turn down. The club have huge ambitions and aspirations that I feel I can contribute towards. The facilities that are there and are currently being developed are second to none at the level and the people I have met are first class. This bodes well for us working together to achieve promotion and kick on from there.”
Gareth has now officially been in post for two weeks and had this to say about his second work home:
“These two weeks have absolutely flown by! The gaffer has assembled a new backroom staff this season, but you would never be able to tell! I feel like I have been here for months, which speaks volumes about the welcome I have received since joining the club. The staff have been working on developing the pre-season plan to ensure we are fully prepared to start the season with a bang. The lads have come back in from the long lay-off in great shape. The fitness testing results have been the best I have seen, and should be up there as the best results at this level, which stands us in good stead going into the season. Despite the Covid-19 restrictions it’s been great to be back in football and I am excited for what we can achieve as a group. The gaffer is one of the very best and a genuine leader of men. He inspires us all to be better and do better and this is infectious throughout the club. I just can’t wait for the season to get going on the 3rd of October”.
Whilst the role is full-time, Gareth will balance this with his clinic load with the addition of 2 new therapists. We will be putting out an official advert over the next few days, but we have already been inundated with CV’s and covering letters which is really pleasing. Our plan is to recruit 2 individuals who will help drive the business and uphold our core values and philosophy. It’s a really exciting time for us, and an opportunity to grow and develop.
Thanks again for your continued support!
