By the end of 2025 I was back playing games after a year of hardwork and commitment. Having been let down by Preston Hospital Orthopaedic Surgeon, who told me I was too old to have ACL reconstruction surgery at 60 yrs old, Gareth was recommended to me. He carried out a thorough examination and determined that surgery was the only option going forward. As I was a very active and relatively fit 60 yr old, Gareth referred me to Mr R Gilbert. He performed my surgery at Wrightington teaching hospital in April 2023, under the NHS. All my pre and post surgery physiotherapy was carried out at Scholars, under Gareth’s care and his knowledge, professionalism and understanding was first class. He tailors therapy to each individual’s needs, measuring progress and adjusting physical activities to meet the needs of the individual. Gareth has given me back my mobility, strength and faith in my knee joint. I have just been signed off by Gareth and have recently returned to 5K runs and I have been able to ramp up all my training sessions, with absolute confidence. I cannot stress enough what a difference he has made to my life and would recommend him to anyone with a knee injury. Without him I would have been struggling with a deteriorating knee joint, without a proper solution and an uncertain future. First and foremost Gareth is an amazing person super professional, super friendly very easy-going and super knowledgeable and has a great energy about him which is important when you’ve come off the back of a huge operation i Myself and I imagine like most people feel probably quite down about the situation you find yourself in the task / Challenge ahead And Gareth has a great way of making you come out of your session feeling like you’re one step closer the situation isn’t as daunting as you first thought.
